Our Work

OUR PROGRAMMES INCLUDE:-

  • An English-in-Action Program which provides conversational English opportunities for those who are interested, including businesspersons, teachers and students.

  • Scholarships to attend international conferences, seminars and meetings in English-speaking countries.

  • Debating and Public-Speaking, Seminars, and Competitions.

  • “Meet at the ESU” – interesting evenings of practical English usage for social purposes.

  • A “Distinguished Speaker Series” of informative talks.

  • An annual Public-Speaking Competition.

  • A monthly Play-Reading Programme.

  • Co-ordinate with the Education Department (SCOLAR) for teaching English interest groups at secondary schools.

  • Acting as Ad-judicators in English public speaking contests in Hong Kong and China.

Non-native English speakers meet with native English speaker volunteer leaders in small groups (maximum of four people) to practise conversational English.

Play-Reading is held on the 3rd week of every month. Please refer to the Play-Reading Club session for upcoming event.

Meet at the ESU

Regular meetings normally held on the first Monday of each month. A wide variety of talks are delivered by different speakers and welcome members of public to join.

The English-Speaking Union Hong Kong

The English Speaking Union (Hong Kong) is an international recognized educational charity, based in over 50 countries. Together, we present educational programs and organize events across the globe, which encourage international understanding, cultural exchange and the ability to empower young people to develop communication skills and realize their full potential.
